Oh now I see the rest of the post! Judy - I've got two workshops coming up this Summer at Esalen Institute . . . www.esalen.org. They are "The Passion of Painting" and one is a five day (in June) and the other a 3 day (in August.) Beginners are MORE than welcome - in fact, this is ideal for someone who is starting out, and trying to break out of old ruts. xo Erin

Hi Judy! Just saw this comment from you re: painting in Big Sur. I'm glad Scott and Linda introduced you to my work (I assume that was where this paragraph was going) and hope to meet you some day! xo Erin erinleegafill@yahoo.com

Hi Erin,

Recently, while in Big Sur visiting my brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Linda Parker, Scott introduced me to your extraordinary paintings. Online, I've looked at everything I can, and am really a new fan. I've been painting for about 2 years, mostly still life and a little figurative. I'd love to take a workshop from you. So, if you allow students who are not really too advanced, please email me with any new dates of future workshops.

Thanks so much,

Thank you so much mark! I really enjoyed looking at your paintings too and would be happy to post them here to share your views of Big Sur and ways of painting as well, with your permission of course. I'll be posting my newsletter regularly, and since you've signed up for it here you'll get something soon. Most of the Spring I will be painting and having art show, but when summer arrives I'll be ready for some serious out door painting again, and doing some workshops along those lines. Fast, free, and fabulous! Thanks, again, Erin

Thank you Eleanor! I am thinking about all you have suggested here, maybe an e-book that would allow all of that wonderful flavor without the expense of printing! xo Erin

I see a book emerging here. Drawings of yours, photos of Tom's, images of the log cabin, Nepenthe, the family, the morning walks...A very personal story told like a cold drink.

April 27, 2012

Hi Erin,

Earlier this week I was a boatbuilder on vacation and painting in Carmel and Big Sur. We stopped at the Phoenix where I met Jake who writes poetry and sees possibilities. He helped me find your print 28/150 of "Stormy Day, Big Sur", which I now have and love, and a copy of "Drinking From a Cold Spring" which I read on the plane back to Boston. I felt as though you had written this just for me. It is perfect! I would love to take a class with you sometime. My dream would be 3 days of plein air in Big Sur. My interest is in working "fast and loose" and "learning from the painting". Do you have any plans for classes I could take?

with much gratitude for the gift of your painting and writing,

Mark
