Where The River Meets the Sea, 60”x48”, oil on canvas, Erin Lee Gafill

I’m thrilled to be returning to Chattanooga Tennessee with new landscapes, dreamscapes, and still life’s.

These new oil paintings celebrate the beauty of color and atmospheric light. I am particularly intrigued by the relationship between the sky and the water these days. As above, so below. The natural world offers endless inspiration.

My still life’s celebrate the beauty of the ordinary and every day. For me, home is truly where the heart is. Sitting down to paint a corner of my home, objects from my travels or fruit from the orchard below my house, is a source is comfort, peace, and quiet joy.

And it is a delight to show with the two other features artists, ceramicist Richard Aerni and oil/pastel artist Bill Suttles.

We are all, in our own way, colorists and our work complements each other.

This show runs through the end of January.

Next up in 2020:

Finally,

Color Duet with Kaffe Fassett

May 14-August 23, 2020

Special Members Opening May 14 with both Kaffe and myself present

Color Duet features still life paintings from a decade of stolen weeks inspired by the objects, textiles, and patterns of home. Kaffe and I both grew up in Big Sur and have deep familial roots in California going back to the gold rush years. More currently, though, we share an upbringing at Nepenthe, in Big Sur, and the inspiration of the place and its people.

The exhibition will give visitors a rare peak into the studio, with objects of art and utility, heirloom textiles and paintings, and creations in various mediums that express our creative lives beyond the easel.

We will be gathering together textiles, garments, furnishing, paintings, and more to set the stage.

Workshops and artful experiences for museum-goers will be offered at the Museum throughout the run of exhibition. Stay tuned for more details!
